A useful GEO report lets a reader trace a conclusion back to a prompt, an answer, and a source. Start with that evidence chain before choosing a headline metric.
Keep a compact evidence record
For each observation, store prompt text, platform, capture date, language, requested market, answer text, cited URLs, and collection method. Do not infer the market from the language alone.
Document changes
When you add a prompt, change a sampling method, or revise a brand-matching rule, add a change note. Compare like-for-like periods when possible and identify gaps in collection.
Connect reports to decisions
Use a short review log: observation, supporting source, proposed action, owner, and review date. This makes a report useful without implying that correlation proves a particular edit caused an answer to change.
Evaluate integrations carefully
Before connecting an API or export, check authentication, available fields, retention, rate limits, and whether deletion or correction can be reflected downstream. Keep account credentials outside content and configuration spreadsheets.
