Before comparing dashboards, define the questions you need to answer: which prompts matter, which audience you serve, and what evidence you need to keep.
1. Write a repeatable prompt set
Include your brand, relevant categories, and competitor alternatives. Record the exact prompt, language, market, platform, and observation date. Keep the baseline stable so that a changed question is not mistaken for a changed result.
2. Inspect the underlying answer
Ask whether the tool preserves answer text, linked sources, capture time, and platform context. A chart alone does not explain why a brand was counted.
3. Separate observations from outcomes
A mention, a citation, a crawler visit, a referral visit, and a sale are different events. Decide which ones the tool actually measures and how those measures fit your workflow.
4. Test the reporting workflow
Check exports, access controls, source links, historical retention, and change notes using a small pilot. Avoid treating one observation as a complete picture of a changing answer system.
This is an editorial evaluation framework, not a vendor benchmark or a promise of improved rankings.
